Media Trainer badge demonstrates a basic understanding of the role of media in young people’s lives and the capacity to help young people interact and utilise media resources responsibly.
Learning Targets
Knowing about media basics (definitions, key concepts and terminologies)
Understanding the importance and relevance of media in young people and youth workers’ lives
Knowing about learning approaches and methods in Media Literacy programmes
Being able to successfully access different information providers
Being able to evaluate information sources (credibility, quality) and to use information tools
Being able to execute different learning approaches and methods in Media Literacy programmes for youth (e.g. issue-enquiry approach, problem-based learning, scientific enquiry, case study, cooperative learning, textual analysis, contextual analysis, simulation)
Capacity to provide guidance on how to be critical and responsible in the use of media
Being aware of social, economic, technical, cultural and aesthetic implications of media development
Perceiving new technologies and media as supportive tools for young people
Participants have to successfully accomplish the following tasks before the BADU Open Badge will be issued.
Minimum standards:
Having successfully completed an entire learning activity (training course, seminar, online course, workshop etc.), a voluntary programme/internship
Self-evaluation
Assessment session with the trainer/mentor
Case Study
Conducted one workshop on the topic of the activity with youth within 2 months after the activity
Conducted critical incident analysis
Problem Solving and simulation games on the specific topic of the activity
