Knowing about journalism basics
Understanding the role of journalism in society and responsibilities of journalists
Understanding 'free speech' and 'free press'
Knowing about citizens’ reporting and user-generated content
Knowing about Alternative Media
Being able to analyse how ethics apply to the practice of journalism
Being able to assess news value and “newsworthiness”
Being able to analyse the different patterns of media ownership and control
Being considerate of social, economic, technical, cultural and aesthetic implications of media development
Perceiving new technologies and media as supportive tools for young people
Participants have to successfully accomplish the following tasks before the BADU Open Badge will be issued.
Minimum standards:
Having successfully completed an entire learning activity (training course, seminar, online course, workshop etc.), a voluntary programme/internship
Self-evaluation
Assessment session with the trainer/mentor
Case Study
Conducted one workshop on the topic of the activity with youth within 2 months after the activity
Conducted critical incident analysis
Problem Solving and simulation games on the specific topic of the activity
